^What Colleges Look For in High School Students

Movie: Admission: sure, it’s a bit dramatic. It’s a movie. But what’s great about Admission is that it gives you a glimpse into the minds of admissions officers at highly selective universities and can help you see some of the tough issues they grapple with when it comes to putting together a class.

FairTest: a list of SAT-optional universities

SAT/ACT optional/flexible colleges and universities for international students

^Khan Academy: free study materials for the SAT, including full-length practice tests.

College Board: register here for the SAT, PSAT, and SAT subject tests.

ACT: register for the ACT here.

Common App: an online application system for over 800 colleges and universities around the world.

Coalition App: an online application system for over 150 colleges and universities. It was created to help with the application process for under-resourced students, but is open for all to use.

UC App: the University of California system is one of the most popular choices that has its own application platform.

Common Black College App: apply to up to 55 historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) for only $35.

Gateway: the application platform for boarding schools.
