This is us

Summit means the top—the highest point. But it also signifies the process of getting to that peak. At Summit International Education, we believe that it takes a caring and dedicated community to help each student achieve their biggest goals.

This means that every member of our team follows through with incredible attention to detail with every part of the process, no matter how big or small the step, how smooth or difficult the path. We are here with you throughout the entire journey, not only to help you reach your college admissions summit, but to ensure that you have the tools to be successful in all your future ascents as well.

Who are you?

Maybe you have big goals to attend a top university and have a great story, but are not sure about the best way to tell it in college applications. Maybe you are ambitious, but need help with long-term planning. Maybe you are driven, but unsure about the best extracurricular activities to focus on to make your application stand out above the rest. Maybe you think your application is perfect already—let us see if we can help you make it even better than perfect.

No matter where you are in the process, we are ready to meet you there and make you stronger. If you are ready to work hard on your college applications and gain skills that will serve you beyond this process, then you’ve come to the right place.

DIRECTOR

As an expert in college admissions for international students and graduate business admissions, Quyen has helped hundreds of students gain acceptances to universities around the world. She serves as a member of the Graduate MBA Subcommittee for the Independent Educational Consultants Association and has been invited to speak to high schools, educational organizations, and other professionals about topics such as global college admissions, working with underrepresented groups, and resume building.

Quyen is from the U.S. where she earned an Ed.M. from Harvard University and dual degrees from Iowa State University on a full academic scholarship. She is also a recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Fellowship. Quyen has significant international experience, having lived and worked in Vietnam, Thailand, and Colombia, where she currently resides. This allows her to understand the nuances that set candidates apart at the most selective schools. She focuses on helping people refine their strengths and to achieve long-term, ambitious goals. Because of this, her clients tend to think of her as a life coach and mentor as much as an admissions expert.

Quyen is a proud member of the International Association for College Admission Counseling and the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA). See why you should hire a professional IECA member.

DIRECTOR OF FAMILY RELATIONS

Emily received her undergraduate degree in Australia, and has since spent over six years connecting with thousands of Chinese families, helping them find best-fit U.S. schools and programs. She has worked extensively with ex-admissions officers from Columbia University, Dartmouth University, the University of Chicago, and Brown University. This has helped Emily to gain a solid understanding of how foreign candidates are evaluated and what strong candidates look like in the eyes of an admissions officers.

Being born and raised in China with experience living and working in Australia and New York, Emily understands many cultural barriers that affect international students from personal experience. What Emily loves most about her position is helping families relieve stress in the college application process and to be able to take an active and concrete role in this important step in their student’s life.

A graduate of Middlebury College and Columbia University, Mai combines his professional writing background with years of counseling experience to guide students through the application essay process.

A Bangkok native and a one-time international school student, Mai is especially attuned to the challenges of applying to American universities from abroad. He relies on a workshop-style process of critique and revision that does not cross ethical boundaries. He enjoys working with students from brainstorming through final edits to craft compelling essays tailored to their top-choice programs.

With twenty years of experience as both a college admissions counselor and private tutor, Jason has helped thousands of aspiring undergraduate and graduate students gain admission to dozens of top universities, including Yale, Cornell, University of Pennsylvania, Georgetown, UC Berkeley, University of Chicago, Northwestern, Stanford Graduate School of Business, London Business School, Bocconi, HEC, the Columbia-Sciences Po dual degree program, and many others.

With clients on nearly every continent, he understands very well the specific needs of international applicants, and is equally adept with admissions to both U.S. and European universities. He holds an M.A. in rhetoric and composition from the Catholic University of America, where he earned a four-year full-tuition scholarship, and studied for a year at Oxford University, England. Before entering education, he began his career as an assistant at The Washington Post, worked as a ghostwriter, and published fifteen books. He specializes in the essay-writing portion of the application process and greatly enjoys helping clients present themselves in uniquely personal ways to admission committees.

Mario is a teacher with a strong background in science and languages: He majored in physics, mathematics, and electronics engineering; he also holds a minor degree in German. Mario has been a test prep tutor for over 8 years, helping hundreds of students achieve their target scores in a myriad of tests, such as the SAT, ACT, GRE, and GMAT.

A Colombian, a language geek, and an insatiable learner, Mario loves the opportunity to get to know people from all over the world. He has worked with students from Colombia, Chile, China, Germany, Korea, Indonesia, Peru, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, the US, and more. His students love his easygoing attitude, his sense of humor, and the science-backed learning strategies he shares with them.

When not teaching, he’s probably doing some learning of his own, building something, or investing in the stock market.

"Ken himself may not have reached his goal if he did not have support from the very beginning from you. You understood him very well and brought out his character, his efforts, and his intentions. You helped him combine these things and gave him energy to make his dream come true. Now Ken has grown in all aspects; he can think about and do many things independently.

It is our great pleasure to know you and your team. We believe that your help is much more effective than what we could have imagined you would provide. We very much appreciate your strong support in Ken’s achievements."
